Alex's Story: A Defining Direction Towards Her Career
Alex has always been a great student and knew she wanted to do something related to the medical field, but just wasn't sure where she might fit best. She enrolled in her Healthcare Pathway class at school in hopes to learn more about this field.
Alex applied for the Chamber Foundation's Summer Internship Program in March of 2021 in hopes to be placed with a host business for the 8-week summer program. Alex's giving heart and quiet demeanor landed her an internship with Therapy Trails LLC. Therapy Trails is a pediatric therapy company offering speech, feeding, occupational, and physical services for children.
Within the first few weeks of the Summer Internship Program, Alex knew this opportunity was going to make a difference in her life. She explained that the best part of the job was, "seeing and interacting with all of the kids" on a daily basis. Her coworkers all adored her and they shared that Alex was the perfect fit for this opportunity. The summer quickly came to a close and Therapy Trails offered Alex to continue working part-time through the school year. Alex and Therapy Trails are partnering together to provide Alex with Work Based Learning credits that will go on her high school transcript, but also real-world experience with a job.

The Summer Internship Program has helped me determine my career path after high school. It also gave me confidence in working in the workforce as well as meeting new people."
Jess, Alex's supervisor shared a comment about the Summer Internship experience. "Alex was the PERFECT fit for Therapy Trails! She was kind, honest, and such a hard worker. She upheld our mission statement and jumped in wherever she was needed."
